  Join us at Seasons 52 in King of Prussia on September 19th as we continue our Clean Energy Series discussing Nuclear Energy with Grace Stanke. After a year of traveling the globe to discuss a nuclear future, there is every type of interaction - both positive, and negative. Explore Grace's takeaway's of the biggest challenges nuclear has to overcome with public perception, and what Grace believes is needed in order to build a strong power grid. 

  As a nuclear engineer, former Miss America, and clean energy advocate Grace improves public perception surrounding nuclear science through policy work and public engagements with politicians and individuals across the globe.

  Grace Stanke, Constellation Nuclear

  

  It’s not often that you find an athlete, engineer, musician, and a former Miss America all in one. Grace Stanke breaks misconceptions surrounding nuclear energy through social media, public engagements, and educational workshops. During her year as Miss America 2023, Grace was named the “New Face of Nuclear Energy” by the Wall Street Journal and was on the Forbes 30 under 30 list for Energy. While completing approximately 270,000 miles of travel, she finished her undergraduate degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since passing on the title of Miss America, Grace continues to advocate for peaceful purposes of the science of the atom. She was recognized by CNET as part of the four women powering America’s Clean Energy Transition. By encouraging worldwide change for clean, zero-carbon emission energy sources, Stanke emphasizes the benefits of nuclear power and seeks to dispel the myths around nuclear energy while inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. In March 2024, Grace began work as a Nuclear Fuels Engineer & Clean Energy Advocate at Constellation. Outside of the nuclear industry, Grace is an avid waterskier, classical violinist, and a travel enthusiast.

  Join us for an introduction to Orienteering followed by happy hour at a nearby venue (TBD).

  We will meet up at Wilson Farm Park in Tredyffrin Township for an introduction to orienteering then a beginner's course on a paved trail. Afterward we will move to a local venue for appetizers and drinks.

  Family Fun Day at Historic Crystal Cave

  As a last hoorah before the cold keeps us inside more and more, come join the fun with family and friends, while we support a local business, at Historic Crystal Cave!

  Groups will be led through the cave with a guide and learn the fascinating history behind the attraction.

  Afterwards, registrants will have the opportunity to play some 18-hole mini golf, pan for gems, and/or enjoy some food/treats at the Ice-Cream Parlor!

  Note – Make sure to select the activities that you would like to include during registration, as the final cost will be reflective of the discounted rates.

  Additional information and reminders:

  • The cave tour has 211 stairs and can be damp, so make sure to wear proper footwear.
  • Registration fees do not cover food or drink.
  • In addition to Hershey's hand-dipped Ice Cream, the Ice-Cream Parlor serves hot dogs and sloppy joes during our time of visit; however, there are picnic tables for you to bring your own lunch, if you so choose.
  • Anything more than the small gemstone bag will incur additional fees the day of.
  • If you are wanting to connect more with nature, there are trails nearby that can be the nature reset you may need.

  Modern Ghost Town and Limerick Generating Station of Nuclear Power

  
  

  Join us at Fricks Lock Village Historical Site on Thursday October 10, 2024, at 1:45pm, for a tour of the modern ghost town. Individuals from the Limerick Generating Station will be in attendance, so further discussion and networking afterwards will be welcomed.

  Volunteers of the East Coventry Township Historical Commission will provide an hour long tour of the abandoned town and lead a discussion on nuclear power generated at the Limerick Generating Station.

  Joint Cleanup Event with NJ SWEP and SWEP GP

  Join NJSWEP and SWEP GP as we Sweep the Beach. We are looking for volunteers to join our Beach Sweep Crew for the Clean Ocean Action Beach Sweep on Saturday, October 19th from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. We will be at the West Deptford - Riverwinds Restaurant/Kayak Launch in Gloucester County. 

  Registration through Clean Ocean Action is required. Sign up for the Gloucester County, West Deptford - Riverwinds Restaurant/Kayak Launch location here and be sure to list SWEP as the organization:

  Networking Night at the Rink

  We received such great feedback from our 2024 Networking Night at the Rink that we are brining it back in 2025. Join SWEP GP at the Wells Fargo Center for a great night of networking, food and drinks*, and HOCKEY! We are hosting an all-inclusive night at the rink on Thursday, January 30^th to catch up with colleagues and watch Philadelphia play New York.

  Price: $125 per person 

  We only have 30 spaces available so register early to ensure your spot is reserved.

  Note: If you cannot attend, you can send someone in your place by notifying programs@swepweb.com. Refunds will not be issued unless the game is cancelled. Any unused ticket will be considered a donation.
