grants program
Our 2026 Grants Program is now open!
Each year, as part of our mission to encourage and promote leadership, achievement, and the professional development of women in the environmental field, SWEP awards small grants to organizations and programs in greater Philadelphia. This year we have $6,000 to share with our applicants. These grants support organizations and programs in the Greater Philadelphia Region that creatively address locally defined needs to enhance, restore, or protect the natural environment. SWEP also supports projects that provide environmental awareness through educational sessions, with particular emphasis on encouraging girls and/or women in the sciences, engineering, or environmental fields.
To be eligible for a grant, applicants and projects must be located within the Greater Philadelphia Area, which includes southeastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware and southern New Jersey.
Grant Selection Criteria
Applicants will be evaluated based on the following:
- The organization must be based in the Greater Philadelphia Region.
- The anticipated impact of SWEP funding on the successful execution of the program, including the percentage of total program funding represented by the SWEP grant (higher percentages are ranked more favorably).
- The extent to which the program positively impacts girls and/or women.
- How the program’s primary goal supports environmental improvement through the exposure and education of girls and/or women to environmental issues and initiatives.
- The overall uniqueness of program.
