DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION

SWEP GP's Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Committee is integral to our mission to promote the professional development and achievement of women in the environmental field. This committee was first established in 2020 to create an organizational culture and climate in which every voice is valued. Administratively, we make recommendations on policies and strategies regarding inclusive and diverse approaches to enhance the recruitment, retention, and inclusion of individuals from underrepresented groups.

Additionally, the DEI committee sponsors events that highlight diversity in our local community and foster inclusion of all. These have included several lunch & learn sessions on topics such as redlining, transracial adoptions, and disability advocacy, as well as panel discussions on other related topics.

Our commitment to dei

As stated by activist Jesse Jackson, “When everyone is included, everyone wins.” SWEP GP’s Board of Directors agrees with this sentiment and continues to value and support our DEI goals. Our DEI committee organizes educational opportunities and conversations focused on the importance of DEI initiatives within the environmental industry. During this time of change, our commitment to continue offering these resources and opportunities remains.
