PA AIPG Field Trip - to Wissahickon Park

Date: May 18, 2019 (9am-12pm)

AIPG is pleased to announce a field trip to a Philadelphia geological treasure known as the Wissahickon Valley. Take a walk with Temple University Assistant Professor Dr.

Natalie Flynn along Forbidden Drive along the Wissahickon Creek to see rocks of the Wissahickon Formation. This portion of the Wissahickon Valley is preserved as parkland within the Fairmount Park system. The walk will begin at the parking lot for Valley Green Inn (http://www.valleygreeninn.com/) (Address: Valley Green Road, Philadelphia, PA,19128).

Geologic understanding and interpretation of the lithology of the Wissahickon has evolved over 100 years or more. Dr. Flynn and her colleagues are eager to share their insight on the complex geology of the Wissahickon Formation.

Fee is $45 to attend
